Information Technology Development

Overview

A number of innovative data analysis tools and technologies have been developed by the GCE-LTER project to accomplish various information management tasks. Most of these tools are used 'behind the scenes' to generate the various files and database interfaces available on the public and private web sites, but some of these tools are also available to individual investigators for use in their own research.

Most source code is available under an Open Source GPLv3 license. Please contact the GCE Information Manager for additional information.

GCE Data Toolbox

Description: Custom MATLAB toolbox for metadata-based processing, transformation, analysis, and integration of ecological data sets (complete description available at http://gce-lter.marsci.uga.edu/public/im/tools/data_toolbox.htm)

Requirements: MATLAB 6.5 or higher on Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP, Linux, Mac OS/x)

GCE ArcGIS Python Scripts

Description: Eight Python scripts (version 2.5) were developed to dynamically generate ESRI shapefiles. The scripts use input data from a database or csv file, and the output is saved as a zipfile.

Requirements: ESRI ArcGIS 9.3, Python 2.5
