GCE AnnouncementField Program NewsFall monitoring finds tall plants The plants are tall and vigorous on the Georgia coast this year, following a relatively wet summer and fall. We had to add taller poles (20 foot) to mark the plots at some of the sites dominated by Zizaniopsis and Spartina cynosuroides because we couldn't easily find the plots marked with ten foot poles. In this photograph, Steve is sampling plots in which the vegetation is about 300 cm tall. The pvc poles are 20 feet long, pushed five or six feet into the mud, so with about 14 or 15 feet exposed.
