Project Abstract

I'm going to make 4 chimneys out of black modeling clay. I am still not sure how large the fiddler crab chimneys on Sapelo are, but I was thinking that the chimneys I build will be .5in, 1.0in, and 2.0 inches tall and the diameter of the opening will be a constant size that I have yet to determine.
I will place the 4 chimneys in a circle in a cat litter box. I plan on setting this experiment up in three different cat litter boxes so that I can the test multiple times at the same time. I'm going to place a female fiddler crab under a bathroom size Dixie cup in the middle of the circle. After a couple of minutes I will lift the cup up slowly and let the female run around while I move on to the next litter box. After I have done this for all three litter boxes I will go back to the first litter box and see which chimney the female crab is sitting in and record my results in the data sheet.
