Project Abstract

The Georgia Anabat Acoustic Survey Project has been conducted across the state since 2010. The goal of this project is to monitor bat populations over time using noninvasive acoustic technology. Bat echolocation calls are recorded by an Anabat Unit that is mounted on a vehicle. Routes are driven twice a summer by volunteers and collected calls are later analyzed by DNR employees to determine species and locations of bats.

Project Location

A predetermined driving route is already set up for Sapelo Island. Route begins at 31.390512, -81.265367 and ends at 31.407522, 81.285494, covering the perimeter of the island.
