Briefly describe the project goals and methodology

The goal is to understand how communities of tidal freshwater plants respond to pulses of brackish water. Plants will be collected from the vicinity of the Saltex project and grown in mesocosms at UGAMI, and subjected to pulses of saline water (3 levels) for varying durations. Plants will be collected under the UGAMI permit.

Collections: vicinity of saltex (creek upstream from saltex). 31°20'24.22"N, 81°28'6.50"W Experiment: UGAMI mesocosms.

GPS coordinates are listed in the project location field

What are the expected start and end dates of the project?

Start Date:  04/01/2014 End Date:  (ongoing)

How many people will access the site and at what frequency?

The field site will be visited by four people for 8 hours to collect plants. Remaining work will be done at the laboratory.

Small gaps created by plant collections should revegetate by the end of the growing season.
